David Magaña

Headquartered in Fresno, California, David is responsible for covering and analysing the US and North American fresh fruit and vegetable industries.

•David has a strong background and experience in agriculture. Prior to joining Rabobank, he served as deputy director of economic research for FIRA – Banco de México, one of the most important agricultural banks in Latin America. While at FIRA, he conducted analysis on the agricultural sector for over a decade. His research agenda and experience include agricultural market integration under the North American Trade Agreement (NAFTA), consumer trends in fresh fruit and vegetable markets, food security, food price dynamics, and other related topics. He also has experience as a professor at Tecnológico de Monterrey.
•David earned a bachelor's degree in agribusiness from Universidad Autónoma Chapingo. He also earned a master's degree and a PhD in agricultural economics from Texas A&M University.

speaker in Spain, Italy, Mexico Morocco, Holland, Argentina, and

On the road 120 days a year engaging all parts of the fresh produce supply chain, John might shower at a truck stop and visit a wholesale market in the morning, check supermarkets in the afternoon and attend an embassy trade reception at night. A graduate in business from the University of Southern California with an emphasis in international marketing, John took addition undergraduate study at the Catholic University of Chile and language studies in Yugoslavia. Since 2002, John has served as the chairman of the grape division of the Fresh Produce Association of the America, where it is rumored he has that job for life.
